Dram Fools is an eclectic two-man band from Syracuse, New York. Their songs are all original and collaboratively written. Combining flavors of jazz, R&B, American songbook, and Celtic, their defining sound is vocal-led with frequent trading of lines and harmonization.
Gavin grew up in the UK and started piano lessons when he was about eight. Although he was taught classically, he has always been far more comfortable playing by ear than from the page. After several years in the professional recording industry in London, he moved to the US and developed his skills as a singer, songwriter, and arranger.
Bob hails from Buffalo, New York. While he always fostered a deep love for music, he took to guitar lessons fairly late in life, which opened up the floodgates of songwriting. He is a cerebral yet humorous lyricist, and usually has a very clear idea in his head of what a song wants to sound like.
Dram Fools’ first studio album, Whisky River, was released on September 27th, 2025. 21 musicians are featured across the 17 original songs, from brass and strings to bagpipes and even a psaltery!

“It starts with the written content . . . The stuff you've constructed is unique . . . So many styles of music on this album . . . It is a very musical CD. I hope people pick up on that. It's really, really good.”
– Ron Keck, Engineer | SubCat Studios, Syracuse, NY
“Dram Fools is a Syracuse-based band with a new album of all original material drawing from a variety of influences and sounds . . . The core duo of Gavin Landless and Bob Switalski even mixed in Brazilian percussion, a psaltery, bagpipes, a variety of strings and horns, and 'villager voices'.”

"What makes Whisky River compelling isn’t just its range, but the intention behind it. Dram Fools don’t force cohesion; they allow it to emerge, shaped by time, collaboration, and a willingness to let each song take the lead in deciding what it needs to be."
Matilia | Creating Romancivity
"Dram Fools wield a Whisky River LP you'll be eager to dive into through this epic, adventurous, genre-gapping statement that goes smooth all the way down."
